CROSSROADS CARE MID & WEST WALES

Provides practical respite services to support carers in their caring role. This is delivered by qualified and experienced care workers in the home setting – day services are available in several areas. Referral by self or other agency. The mid Wales office is based in Llandrindod Wells.

VOLUNTEER BUREAU

There are various Community Support and Volunteer Bureaus in Powys, covering between them, the whole of the County. Each organisation is an independent charity, run by voluntary trustee committees. They each employ professional staff and provide advice on relevant support services and recruit volunteers in the community. For example a Community Car scheme, Meals on Wheels and befriending service in the Crickhowell area and Senior’s Tea Club in Brecon.

FIRE & RESCUE SERVICE

Gives free advice specific to people living with dementia and provides free smoke alarms and other equipment. The service is carried out by firefighters who are Dementia Friends.

Based in Brecon with outreach centres in Hay, Talgarth & Crickhowell. Supports mental well-being, recovery and learning. Provides information and advice and offers a range of supported creative activities, counselling and complimentary therapy services. All staff are Dementia Friends.

MID POWYS MIND

Mid Powys Mind has a Wellbeing Centre based in Llandrindod Wells, as well as running 2 rural community groups in Builth Wells and Knighton. We support people all through Radnorshire and North Brecknock. We promote recovery for people experiencing mental ill health, supporting and encouraging people to live independent, improved and healthy lives.
